Since 2017, the GHI owns a branch office in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Under the head of Dr Dovilė Bataitytė, it promotes research on the history of Lithuania in the Central and Eastern European context as well as on Lithuania's historical ties with Germany, Poland and other countries in the region. In addition, the branch office functions as an outreach and coordination centre for the transfer of research between Lithuanian and German historians, but also to or from scholars from other countries. To this end, we organise academic events and prepare historiographical publications.
