Biographical Summary
Gintarė Malinauskaitė was born 1985 in Kaunas, Lithuania, going on to study History, Political Science and Latin American studies in Kaunas, Berlin and Budapest. She completed her Ph.D. in the field of history at the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2017, with a doctoral thesis on “Media Memories of the Holocaust in Lithuania since 1990.” Since 2017, she has worked as a research associate at the Vilnius Branch Office of the German Historical Institute Warsaw. Her current research project is situated in the “Research Area 4” (Violence and Foreign Dominion in the “Age of Extremes”). The project is entitled “Postwar Justice: Holocaust and War Crimes Trials in Soviet Lithuania.” Further research areas are: Memory and historical culture in Eastern Europe (with special emphasis on Lithuania)“, Holocaust research, Prosecution of Nazi war crimes, Postwar legal cultures in Eastern Europe, History of Lithuania (19th/20th century).
