Biographical Summary

Dorota Woroniecka-Krzyzanowska joined the research project ‘Relations in the Ideoscape: Middle Eastern Students in the Eastern Bloc’ in May 2019 on behalf of the German Historical Institute Warsaw. She holds degrees in Arabic studies (BA) and sociology (MA) from the University of Warsaw and a PhD in social sciences from the Polish Academy of Sciences. Her PhD thesis focused on the relation between identity and place in the context of protracted exile, based on ethnographic study of a Palestinian refugee camp. In addition to several book chapters, Dorota published in Political Geography, Anthropological Forum, Journal of Refugee Studies and International Review for the Sociology of Sport. Her research interests are forced migration, urban anthropology, local governance and knowledge production with geographical focus on the Middle East.
