Fortsetzung

Thanks to financial support from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the ‘Holocaust Mass Graves’ project will continue in 2026. The aim of the project is to create an interactive map showing the mass graves of the Holocaust in the General Government, i.e. the part of occupied Poland that was not incorporated into the German Reich. For selected locations, we will gradually add historical sources, mainly from Polish, German and Israeli archives. This will make it possible to search and sort information according to various criteria, such as place names, the number of victims, or whether the graves are located in a Jewish cemetery or outside it. In addition, the map will be enriched with additional cartographic data, which will be made available to Holocaust researchers in this form for the first time.

The research work will be carried out by Katarzyna Anzorge, who joined the German Historical Institute Warsaw on 1 January, 2026.

Further information on the project can be found here.
