Annual report published

The academic year 2023/24 was a year of change for the DHI Warsaw in many respects. After ten years in office, Miloš Řezník handed over the reins to Magdalena Saryusz-Wolska in April 2024. In January, Jan Musekamp succeeded Ruth Leiserowitz as deputy director. In addition, in 2024 we bid farewell to five scholarship holders from Ukraine who had come to Warsaw immediately after the Russian aggression in 2022 as part of the “Research Perspective Ukraine” program.

The present annual report for 2023/24 provides insights into the research work of the DHI Warsaw. Ruth Leiserowitz looks back on her work at the institute (pp. 42–43), Michael Zok reports on the recently completed DFG-funded project “No Sex Please, We are Catholic” (pp. 34–37), and our Ukrainian scholarship holder Julia Buyskykh talks about her field research in Poland (pp. 44–47).

After almost 15 years of being divided into research areas organized by historical periods, we are now striving to establish thematic priorities. We also describe this concept in the magazine (pp. 8–9). In addition, there is an overview of our current projects and latest publications, as well as the most important events of the past year.

We hope you enjoy reading it!
