Katarzyna Jeżowska

Katarzyna Jeżowska is a historian of Eastern Europe. Her work is situated at the intersection of modern European and design history and examines the material cultures of state socialism and cultural diplomacy during the Cold War. Her first book, Socialist by Design: The Politics of Material Culture in Cold War Poland, is forthcoming with Cornell University Press. She is a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Sydney. Previously, she has held fellowships at the Center for Advanced Study at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and at the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at Stanford University. During her GHI fellowship, she will conduct archival research for her second project, which explores the extractive-industrial complex in twentieth-century Eastern Europe.
