Lukas Christian Häußler
About:
After graduating from high school in Baden-Württemberg, Lukas Christian Häußler began a B.A. program in history and economics at Humboldt University in Berlin in October 2017. He completed the program in the summer of 2021 with a thesis on the Abyssinian War (1935–36) and the question of European peacekeeping in the British print media. Prior to that, in October 2020, he began studying history at the same university, specializing in economics and society. During this time, he worked as a student employee for the German Bundestag’s visitor services and spent the fall semester of 2022–23 at the University of Basel as part of the Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP). His master’s thesis focused on the structural changes of the 1970s in the watchmaking industry of Baden-Württemberg and northern Switzerland. Since October 2024, he has been working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Brechenmacher (University of Potsdam) on his ongoing dissertation project on Catholic diaspora communities during the era of European industrialization (ca. 1870–1914). As part of this project, Lukas Christian Häußler will embark on research trips to Szczecin and Wrocław in August and September 2026, funded by the DHI Warsaw.
