Nota biograficzna
Andrew Tompkins jest historykiem stosunków transnarodowych w Europie XX wieku i pracownikiem naukowym Niemieckiego Instytutu Historycznego w Warszawie, gdzie bada historię granicy polsko-niemieckiej w okresie zimnej wojny.
Jego pierwsza monografia Better Active than Radioactive! Anti-Nuclear Protest in 1970s France and West Germany została opublikowana przez Oxford University Press w 2016 roku i analizuje transnarodowe sieci ruchów społecznych na przykładzie ruchu przeciw energii atomowej. W latach 2023-2024 Andrew Tompkins był pracownikiem naukowym w Katedrze Historii Europy Zachodniej na Uniwersytecie Humboldtów w Berlinie, gdzie już wcześniej pracował jako Humboldt Post-Doc Fellow (2013-2016). Ponadto był wykładowcą historii nowożytnej Europy na Uniwersytecie w Sheffield (2016-2020 r.) oraz DAAD Fellow na Uniwersytecie w Erfurcie i Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim (w latach 2020-2022).
Andrew Tompkins uzyskał tytuł doktora historii na Uniwersytecie Oksfordzkim w 2013 r., po ukończeniu studiów magisterskich z historii na Uniwersytecie w Chicago (2007-2008) oraz nauk politycznych na Uniwersytecie Karoliny Północnej w Chapel Hill, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin i Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).

Transnarodowa historia Europy od 1945 r., ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem historii społecznej i środowiskowej.
